I was thinking about this sweet shoot I styled & I’m falling in love with it all over again! Look at the moment of that dress though!! ? ••
I hope you guys had the best long weekend! I found the tastiest rainbow veggie + lime crema salad recipe that I’ll make for the rest of my life, suh gud! But the best part was having a sleepover with 2 of our besties @kelseyhettinga & her husband Tim. We made margs & watched a movie then they crashed in the guest room. Kelsey and I made coffee together in the morning, got ready & went shopping and then prepped food for a bbq with the rest of our besties! @kaleighdsimmons @amberannie @ @djorn0.

But there’s also this side of me, you guys…This side that is so similar to a 12 year old boy… who cries with obscene laugher following a toot joke (yes, we say toot) or when I feel like chasing my kids around with an overly dramatic evil laugh and feel extremely satisfied by their screams… of joy, come on!! I’m not that crazy!! (but also sheer terror, let’s be real. I’ve made them cry.) You just get what you get with me. There’s really no point to any of this except that I thought you should know that there’s no shame in my game… but also so that you’re not startled if I ever approach you with a very scary laugh. Yesterday was a much needed day of adventure and all things lovely! The @clothandcabin Spring lineup is SO good, you guys! I can’t wait for it to go live so you can buy all the pretty things for yourselves! And let’s just throw down a solid shout out to @eandlsalongr because Erin & @samklugartistry are some incredible humans! They were so down to earth, which is way the heck up there on my list of hopes when meeting new people. I felt beautiful, valued and really thankful to have met 2 more female powerhouses in the Grand Rapids community. The photo shoot with Cloth&Cabin was hilarious, inspiring, laid back and overflowing with mimosas – seriously my glass was never left half empty. Can’t wait to see the magic from so many killer creatives working together & so grateful I got to be a part of it!

Some days I’m completely consumed with trying to keep up with the trail of chaos this ones leaves behind. Think blueberries that seemed to have escaped his plate & somehow were stepped on, kinetic sand hiding in toy trucks all over the house, a game of Jenga that consists of simply ‘plowing them over’ again and again. Those are real days in my world, not days filled with hot showers and chasing after my career dreams in the coolest coffee shops around the city. I crave those days, I dream of them! But what I crave more is watching Weston play using his imagination, pausing while the house is in major disarray to play a game of Uno with Ryder (he belly laughs through them! It’s the best ever!) or letting Delaney sing on her microphone and hiding around the corner to listen while she sings worship songs at the top of her lungs! ———-
When I feel like my career dreams come secondary some weeks, I’m glad because that means my family came first. I have my whole life ahead of me to build my business which I will do with every spare moment I find and chase after my dream like a madwoman! ——
But it goes like this, I’m a wife. I’m a mom, I’m a girlboss Stylist. And I’m really proud of it!

Thinking about the sunshine & missing it’s cozy, warm touch. Probably because I’m sitting in my car while my babe naps in his car seat and I’m surrounded by white sky poop aka snow – you can thank my kids for that sweet little description.
It’s always kind of nice when I’m forced into this position of patience and quiet while my sweet one is resting. I mean give me alone time & some soft music and it’s a recipe for self reflection, the older I get the more I realize how quick I am to go deep – I wonder why that is?! I guess I’m more willing to become aware of my shortcomings and let the Lord help me become someone better, self reflection isn’t always fun – the list of things to work on is endless, but it’s in this safe space where I can also give the Lord a chance to remind me of the areas I should be proud. Today I was reminded that growth is a lifelong process, it’s not making a decision today to be someone who’s got it all together and by tomorrow having it all figured out. It’s ok to let the process happen, to grow little by little and even let myself fail along the way – without letting it defeat me. One foot in front of the other, get back up, try again, change the strategy, let patience have its perfect work. I’m a work in progress & I am a-ok with that! ? @kelseyhettinga .

So, I went to Ulta today to buy some Christmas gifts. I had my littlest fella Weston with me, he’s 3 & obviously curious about everything he sets his big, round, puppy dog eyes on. Especially messy things, of course – in fact the messier, the better! By the time we left he had red lipstick smeared all over his face (I turned around for a second, I swear!), he had disassembled a lit display case – like actually removed the lightbulb from where it was attached (crazy thing is I was standing right next to him! I didn’t even look away this time!), he now smells like a male Gucci model but also a coconut and I managed to leave with 2 of the wrong things because I was more focused him than what I was buying. The amount of snow that has fallen in the last 12 hours in GR is ummm, no bueno. Beautiful? Absolutely! Cozy? I mean it’s like magic when you’re inside looking out!
