I’ve been completely MIA, I know. I have been in my own little world of asking questions, the hard kind. The ones that require major soul searching & arms stretched wide with willingness. It’s a good thing that we can hope in Him & His timing even when He feels quiet! Or in my case it’s feeling hopeful that the stirring I’m feeling is something getting ready to blossom in my life & I want to be in the right position – emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually – so that I can be most prepared for what He has in store.
It can be scary to ask the hard questions because part of asking them is admitting we don’t have all of the answers – annnnd booooy do I like to have it all figured out! But for now I’m meditating on the present things in my life! The children I’m watching grow by the minute, the business I’m investing my heart into, the marriage that’s full of belonging – that’s enough for me. But I love the stirring and draw for more, the things He has in store for our family and my life that I have yet to see!

I’ve been so out of my groove, you guys! I mean in all honesty – I struggle like mad with the whole IG thing. Mostly because it can be such a time suck! I love that it’s such a great tool for building community & supporting people/things I believe in but I hate that it also really messes with people who come searching for validation on a platform that lacks so much real ness. What happens in the quiet moments in your life? When you press pause on social media, when the tv goes dark and the only sound is your breathe, the only movement is your body in your cozy bed. I find myself in my most vulnerable form in those moments. When I reflect on my life – what I’ve suffered and accomplished, the areas in me I see growth and the areas I ache for freedom. When I let my heart wander through the opportunities I’ve been given to leave a simple reminder of Jesus’ love for someone who needed it & if I’ve been faithful in my calling to be His hands & His feet in this world. I know the quiet moments can be hard for so many people, anxieties sneak up so easy in the dark & quiet – A.W. Tozer said, ‘we need never to shout across the open spaces to an absent God. He is nearer than our own soul, closer than our most secret thought.’ Even further, God doesn’t run when we have a dark thought, struggle or emotion…He simply remains. I crave the quiet, maybe because I’m a mother of 3 and quiet is so rare around here but maybe because instead of fearing the quiet, I’ve learned to embrace the chance to sit & be present with a God who challenges me to grow beyond the limits I’ve set for myself and embrace who He created me to be. (((Be still & know that I am God. Psalm 46:10.)))

Dear Mr. Sun,
Thank you for coming to visit and shining oh-so-vibrantly today!
So, this morning I went to a kickboxing class at 7:45am, I was still wiping sleep drool from my chin when I pulled up. So early. But! It was my first time & can I just say, I felt like such a BOSS. Seriously. The whole time I was taking to my punching bag, “my arms might be skinny, but fool you’re going down!!” It was an entirely different kind of satisfying than I had anticipated! I won’t be able to walk or lift my arms tomorrow but it was def worth it. After that I came home with a tray full tasty Starbucks drinks for my hair dresser (& lifelong friend), one of my closest gals & myself in preparation for a spring hair makeover in my kitchen! (Pics to follow someday, we all know I’m not the best at posting often…Is it bad that I don’t care?!) It’s been a really happy day and I’m a really happy girl. Also, any chance you noticed the incredibly fantastic top I’m wearing in this picture?! @clothandcabin Spring line gives me all the feels! So many good pieces for you to drool over, good luck only picking 7!! Happy Saturday!! .

Only a liar can make you feel isolated in a world full of people fighting the same battles as you. Depression, anxiety, divorce, miscarriage, grief, insecurity, self doubt, fear… we’ve ALL experienced something that’s left us feeling broken, all of us. (Yeah, it’s gettin real up in here) The catch is that we tend to choose shame and isolation from our brokenness over believing that it doesn’t define us or determine our future. A perfect Insta photo is lovely but it’s too easy to hide behind & we can’t maintain a life that appears beautiful when everything behind the scenes is falling apart. It took me a long time to stop feeling shame for miscarrying 3 of my 6 babies. Who told me that was MY fault?! Who says you deserved to be abused? Who said you aren’t good enough? Those are lies that are too commonly tucked away in our minds and left to torment us. When Jesus gave His life He made it possible for us to walk THROUGH our pain, not live in it. For us to be free from guilt & shame! We weren’t meant to figure it all out alone, we were meant to huddle around the broken and surround ourselves with people who love the way Jesus loves – without judgement. Jesus says, come all of you who are weary & burdened and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).Jesus loves the broken & beaten down! He calls us His beloved & He prepares a way of escape when it feels like there isn’t one.

I wouldn’t consider myself a minimalist but shoot girl, I deeply appreciate the intentionality of someone who is! Doing this shoot was so fun, it highlighted a woman in her real work environment wearing uncomplicated clothes that stand for something powerful. @joonandco Supports the women behind the garments and some of their powerful causes and stories! It’s clear, simple, honest & empowering! Why is it that as emotional beings we complicate everything?! I mean sometimes the ingredients in food are so complicated that I just come to the conclusion it’s probably made of poop and they’re using fancy terms (no one understands) to hide it from us… those jerks. I mean for real, there’s an ‘its complicated’ option on Facebook to define your relationship… mmmmm, if mine fell under that category I’d probably reassess my values and priorities in that relationship. Although I learned that the hard way, don’t we all? ?When it comes to fashion errrrrrrything is complicated – wait, are bandanas still a thing?! Soooo is it ok to wear h&m again or are we all still angry at them?! I have to buy this white tee because it’s $65 so I’m sure it’s ethically made from organic cotton… right?! I’m striving to un-complicate things in my life this year. To say yes when opportunities are good & clear and no when they’re not. To pour my heart into life giving friendships and draw a line when things are wishy-washy. To be honest about my current season & not pretend I have it all together when I don’t. There are solutions to complicated situations and I’m determined to find them by being aware and doing my best to keep a minimal mindset in a chaos filled world.
