THIS, you guys! Truth! Only a liar can make you feel isolated in a world full of people fighting the same battles as you. Depression, anxiety, divorce, miscarriage, grief, insecurity, self doubt, fear… we’ve ALL experienced something that’s left us broken. Every. Single. One of us. (Yeah, it’s gettin’ real up in here.) The catch is that most of the time we to choose shame and isolation from our brokenness over believing that it doesn’t define us or determine our future. A perfect Insta photo is lovely but it’s too easy to hide behind & we can’t maintain a life that appears beautiful when everything behind the scene is falling apart. It took me a long time to stop feeling shame for miscarrying 3 of my 6 babies. Who told me that was MY fault?! Who says you deserved to be abused? Who said you aren’t good enough to chase after that dream? Those are lies that too commonly take the place of our truths – that we are beautiful, we are desirable, we are strong, we’re fighters, we’re creative & fierce and capable! These truths & lies bleed into every area of our lives including how we dress & carry ourselves. Welcome to my WHY! I don’t believe that any woman should wear clothes that lie to her every single day & tell her she’s not worth looking good and feeling good. Clothes that make her feel unattractive & uninspired. Not when it’s something we can work on gaining control of. Clothes trigger our insecurities or they make us feel confident! Go through your clothes, don’t hold onto the things that keep you feeling uninspired. Save a little money & replace that item with something that makes you feel killer incredible! Even if it’s just one piece at a time, eventually your wardrobe can be a safer place for you. I want that for you with all of my heart! .

Transitioning your wardrobe from winter to spring can be tooouuugh! The suns warm, the breeze is cold – so how do you dress for that nonsense?! Don’t be afraid to continue wearing your sweaters, just mix them with a lighter, springier piece on bottom like light wash denim, a pencil skirt or a shoe that exposes your ankle/top of your foot. Add in spring colored layers on top with your jeans & don’t second guess wearing your heavier blazers still! There’s no wrong way as long as your warm when it’s chilly and cool when it’s hot! And keep in mind that color is the most significant element transitioning through seasons! Happy spring!!

I’ve been completely MIA, I know. I have been in my own little world of asking questions, the hard kind. The ones that require major soul searching & arms stretched wide with willingness. It’s a good thing that we can hope in Him & His timing even when He feels quiet! Or in my case it’s feeling hopeful that the stirring I’m feeling is something getting ready to blossom in my life & I want to be in the right position – emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually – so that I can be most prepared for what He has in store.
It can be scary to ask the hard questions because part of asking them is admitting we don’t have all of the answers – annnnd booooy do I like to have it all figured out! But for now I’m meditating on the present things in my life! The children I’m watching grow by the minute, the business I’m investing my heart into, the marriage that’s full of belonging – that’s enough for me. But I love the stirring and draw for more, the things He has in store for our family and my life that I have yet to see!

•Worry about loving yourself instead of loving the idea of other people loving you• Easier said than done sometimes, huh? We all strive for acceptance & validation – we were created with a need for those things! The problem is when we try and attain them by being someone we think others might love and are too insecure to be who we really are with fear of rejection.
I’m not funny enough. My teeth are too crooked. My house isn’t full of expensive things. I don’t wear designer brands so I’m not legit. Those are all lies I’ve had to overcome in my own life, things that have hindered me in the past from believing in who I am & what I’m capable of. Honestly, things I genuinely don’t care about anymore thanks to the grace of God! I am Olivia Fitzpatrick – first a wife, then a mother & lastly a stylist. I’m just a girl trying to live my best life – a life that leaves a legacy of honesty, kindness & inspiration. I hope to be a truer version of the love of Jesus than the Christians who think they’re worthy of throwing the first stone. I hope to be a relatable friend, mother, wife and business woman – a place others can find belonging & encouragement. My dream isn’t to be a famous stylist; my dream is to let the Lord work through me, my business & through my experience as a mom and simply hold on through the adventure! He is capable of doing more with my life than I could ever hope, dream or imagine! My only concern these days is if I’m positioned and ready for Him to use at any moment, whether it’s in my kids lives, a strangers or in my work. I might not always love certain things about myself but I will give Him the room to help me see myself & others through His eyes to the best of my ability.

Yesterday was a much needed day of adventure and all things lovely! The @clothandcabin Spring lineup is SO good, you guys! I can’t wait for it to go live so you can buy all the pretty things for yourselves! And let’s just throw down a solid shout out to @eandlsalongr because Erin & @samklugartistry are some incredible humans! They were so down to earth, which is way the heck up there on my list of hopes when meeting new people. I felt beautiful, valued and really thankful to have met 2 more female powerhouses in the Grand Rapids community. The photo shoot with Cloth&Cabin was hilarious, inspiring, laid back and overflowing with mimosas – seriously my glass was never left half empty. Can’t wait to see the magic from so many killer creatives working together & so grateful I got to be a part of it!

I wouldn’t consider myself a minimalist but shoot girl, I deeply appreciate the intentionality of someone who is! Doing this shoot was so fun, it highlighted a woman in her real work environment wearing uncomplicated clothes that stand for something powerful. @joonandco Supports the women behind the garments and some of their powerful causes and stories! It’s clear, simple, honest & empowering! Why is it that as emotional beings we complicate everything?! I mean sometimes the ingredients in food are so complicated that I just come to the conclusion it’s probably made of poop and they’re using fancy terms (no one understands) to hide it from us… those jerks. I mean for real, there’s an ‘its complicated’ option on Facebook to define your relationship… mmmmm, if mine fell under that category I’d probably reassess my values and priorities in that relationship. Although I learned that the hard way, don’t we all? ?When it comes to fashion errrrrrrything is complicated – wait, are bandanas still a thing?! Soooo is it ok to wear h&m again or are we all still angry at them?! I have to buy this white tee because it’s $65 so I’m sure it’s ethically made from organic cotton… right?! I’m striving to un-complicate things in my life this year. To say yes when opportunities are good & clear and no when they’re not. To pour my heart into life giving friendships and draw a line when things are wishy-washy. To be honest about my current season & not pretend I have it all together when I don’t. There are solutions to complicated situations and I’m determined to find them by being aware and doing my best to keep a minimal mindset in a chaos filled world.

I could hear music on the other side of this pale yellow door and although that may not sound scary to you, I was terribly nervous they would see me on their doorstep and come guns blazing out to get me! But let’s be real, with a soft yellow door and such cheerful potted flowers they probably would have offered me cookies.
Cheers to you sweet yellow door and mystery friends inside for creating such a welcoming and happy little space that made me feel both thrill and appreciation!
I hope and wonder if the owners of this lovely space feel the same emotions I did about what they created. I sure hope so! I’m (obviously) one of those people that thinks pretty deeply, I tend to hope that any ordinary day holds the possibility of growth or greatness & sometimes even hunt for it. Typically it’s the unexpected, subtle things that captivate me the most; like this small side entrance hiding alongside of the huge, stunning home it belongs to.
Maybe it’s the part of me that is rooting for the underdog, or maybe the part that is captivated by the little details, or maybe the space of my heart that believes in the power of small victories in achieving the big vision. Whichever it is, this little door seemed to catch my attention and allow my heart to wander with curiosity.
Not all of my photos have a story or enlightening moment behind them, but I’m proud of them all. Each one is a little step forward and each one gives me the opportunity to share a small piece of my heart with you! ? @kelseyhettinga .

This sweater, you guys. If I could wear it every day without anyone noticing, I would… but I mean it. It’s warm & cozy and makes me feel happy and feminine, it was a solid purchase fo sho! It’s styled here over a simple gray dress but jeans are usually my go to because, well… sweaters with a little extra somethin’ somethin’ don’t need to be distracted from!
What items in your wardrobe make you feel happy?! Cuz we all need them! Happy jeans, happy sweater, happy shoes, and oh, what I would give for some more happy jackets! Happy pieces make for happy women which make for happier hearts, we all need happy hearts! .
