THIS, you guys! Truth! Only a liar can make you feel isolated in a world full of people fighting the same battles as you. Depression, anxiety, divorce, miscarriage, grief, insecurity, self doubt, fear… we’ve ALL experienced something that’s left us broken. Every. Single. One of us. (Yeah, it’s gettin’ real up in here.) The catch is that most of the time we to choose shame and isolation from our brokenness over believing that it doesn’t define us or determine our future. A perfect Insta photo is lovely but it’s too easy to hide behind & we can’t maintain a life that appears beautiful when everything behind the scene is falling apart. It took me a long time to stop feeling shame for miscarrying 3 of my 6 babies. Who told me that was MY fault?! Who says you deserved to be abused? Who said you aren’t good enough to chase after that dream? Those are lies that too commonly take the place of our truths – that we are beautiful, we are desirable, we are strong, we’re fighters, we’re creative & fierce and capable! These truths & lies bleed into every area of our lives including how we dress & carry ourselves. Welcome to my WHY! I don’t believe that any woman should wear clothes that lie to her every single day & tell her she’s not worth looking good and feeling good. Clothes that make her feel unattractive & uninspired. Not when it’s something we can work on gaining control of. Clothes trigger our insecurities or they make us feel confident! Go through your clothes, don’t hold onto the things that keep you feeling uninspired. Save a little money & replace that item with something that makes you feel killer incredible! Even if it’s just one piece at a time, eventually your wardrobe can be a safer place for you. I want that for you with all of my heart! .

Settling into a new rhythm is so dang tricky! I’m sorting through boxes & emotions & business ideas & more emotions & wondering at what point things will start to take shape in this new season for our family. It’s hard not to let the difficulties that accompany change cloud the possibilities & dang it’s so necessary to feel all the feels in the moment. I’ve had to ask myself some hard questions about what I want to do with this life, what my hearts desires are & if I’m willing to say yes to them. I’ve been quickly approaching a choice – to accept this new challenge & dive back into the unknown or sit in the discomfort of change and lose hope. I will always choose to dive back in! Ive learned that a challenge faced alone is too much for me but when it’s surrendered to God first, he generously pours out his grace & that challenge becomes an open door. I first have to be willing, even if it’s scary or I feel unqualified because I am called to make a difference in the world around me & I refuse to allow fear to take up residency in my heart. So here’s to the next step, whatever it might be! I’m coming for ya! .

Big changes around here! We have officially arrived in San Diego! These plant babies made the road trip with me & I’ll admit I almost lost a few of them to heat in Arizona… I may or may not have made a detour to a spa and left them to fend for themselves in 104 degrees. Plant mom fail. Rest assured, they’ve perked back up and are busy soaking in some organic fertilizer soil oils I paid way too much for. Plant mom win! Also, this dress was a glorious score at Anthro during their tag sale! $25!! Yes of course I did a happy dance when it fit just perfectly! There’s so much updating to do but for now you should know the most important things – we are well, only minimal tears so far & Starbucks is 1.5 blocks from our new home. Jesus has our back. .

What makes your heart light on fire? What is it that you start talking about faster and louder with whole hearted excitement!? Girl, chase it down!! Hold on tight, let the fire inside of you ignite it in other women who need it too! You hold something more special, more wild & untamable than you know – your heart! Your ability to be YOU! You’re strong, tell self doubt to shut the heck up! You’re full of fire, fuel it with people in your tribe who love & support you! What I wish you could see in this photo is the moment we realized we could feed alpacas that lived directly behind this studio. As in, open a door in the back of the studio and walk right into their feeding area!
They were stinky, adorable, enthralling & I was obsessed with the idea that such a beautiful studio had this unexpected surprise! There was something so honest about it; the collision of this beautiful studio & these wild animals and the fact that they shared a single door. (I’m working on embracing the way my mind works when it comes to this stuff but I do appreciate that Jesus created me with tenderness & insight toward seemingly ordinary things.) We paint a calculated representation of who we are and allow the world to see it but we hesitate to crack the door where, on the other side you’d find the messes of our lives. Reality is that we all have this door, the one hanging in balance of our beauty & our mess. We tell ourselves people will love us less if they knew about the mess on the other side when the truth is it bridges gaps, offers freedom & gives others the opportunity to feed our hearts & feel understood in return. We are all messy & we have all been broken, it’s a part of our story! Just like one success doesn’t cap our ability to achieve, one painful circumstance doesn’t blemish us. John 1:5 says, “Light shines in the darkness and the darkness can not ever come it.” If we crack open the door from our perfect facade into our passing pains then they can’t stay in the darkness & chip away at us. So today I’m aware of my door and the insecurities on the other side & I’m allowing a crack so the light can get in – I am not inadequate, I am enough! I am worthy! I am loved! I am strong! I am not alone! YOU are enough, you are worthy, you are loved, you are strong and sister, you are not alone.

Last falls go-to is this falls go-to! This @motherdenim faux fur jacket has been one of my favorite purchases for a number of years in a row! Our closets should be full of both timeless pieces & current trends. This jacket can easily be worn with a T-shirt (I snaked this one from my husbands closet) & jeans, a little black dress or dressed up with added textures like velvet, leather or sequins for the holidays! Good quality statement jackets are always worth investing in. ✨

•”In life we can dread the sacrifice or we can anticipate the reward.”• Ya know when you hear something that seems to bust through your chest and grab ahold of your heart? Those little truths are the stepping stones through seasons of my life. They’re the pefect bite sized but profound truths that shift my perspective just enough to keep me moving forward & my heart in check. That quote from @christybwright got me!! How many times are we so focused on the sacrifices we have to make that the reward is hardly visible? Dang girl, if there’s anything I’ve learned through starting a business it is that the reward MUST stay front and center, when it gets cloudy there’s suddenly all this space for doubt and fear to completely hinder momentum. Of course there are areas where certain sacrifices must be balanced with wisdom – for me, my kids top the charts. Sacrificing the year I have left before West starts school is front and center, I won’t sacrifice that time with him… but I WILL balance it because both he & my growing business hold reward! I can’t get that year with him back but it also doesn’t become my excuse not to DO what is in my heart to do. When I choose to work away from home it doesn’t mean that I’m a bad mom or that I’m sacrificing all my mama responsibilities; it mean that I’m equally valuing myself as a woman and business owner and making money to help support my family is good both for them and for me! And can I just say mamas, I’ve heard the ‘shoulds’ about being a full time stay at home mom… it’s hard to ignore them and stay confident that what you’re doing is right for you & your family. For those of you called to the full time at home role, BLESS YOU! Flourish there, your sacrifice will be honored! And for those of you like me, don’t let anyone squelch your fire for being mama and boss, you are graced to do it! Find your balance, weigh your sacrifices, be mama when your babes need you & boss when there’s peace in your home! I believe in you, sincerely. Keep doing what you are called to do and be fierce at it! ? @kaleighdsimmonsphoto

Delaney. Oh how I love you, my girl. Lipstick and oranges, she does things right!
Here’s a little homage to raising daughters. They watch & learn from our every move as a mother & woman, they mimicking our body language and notice how we respond in moments of upset. They hear our quiet comments about our bodies or the fact that we can’t leave the house without make up on; although some days I intentionally choose to go without a painted face simply because I know she notices – there’s so much power in what they observe. I am so grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given to raise this beautiful girl, to show her how to get her hands dirty & work hard but also how to slow down and value ourselves with the brightest pink nail polish & some dancing in the kitchen. I’ve done my best to show her how to respond in love but also that humility in acknowledging our shortcomings & offering apologizes when necessary is another form of beauty. She challenges me to be aware of my heart, she doesn’t even know that she pushes me to be reach farther and sprint after my dreams so that she know she can do the same. I commit myself to raising her to love Jesus & understand His grace, to be kind & accepting, silly and free spirited, strong & confident of who God made her to be & always know that I’m a safe place for her. Delaney has the most beautiful heart and I am so grateful she’s mine forever! .

Fear is one of those things that presents insane limitations. In my life I’ve gone through seasons of fear that have left me feeling isolated, incapable & even undeserving. Let’s be real, who can actually say they haven’t?! Fear has so many names and every one of them holds the same dose of insecurity and lies. If we stop and live in those seasons of fear & isolation then we embrace that as our identity. We are capable of choosing a life with limits or a life of opportunity, a life that expresses strength and courage to you and to people you don’t even know are watching you. I choose to process the fears, walk through them with an expectation to overcome them and see my life flourish without limits! I am capable. I am deserving. I’m not alone and neither are you! We are capable of amazing things! “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.” Isaiah 43:2.
