When you think of your happiest, most confident clothes – what triggers that inward exhilaration for you? Color? Texture? Bold print? Clean lines? Simplicity? There are so many, many things that contribute to our personal style but the most important of them all is how you feel in what you’re wearing! If you only wore what made you FEEL AMAZING then your style would take shape all on its own because confidence would emerge! When we feel frustrated and insecure in our clothes the total opposite happens, we feel unsure & insecure which translates too easily to awkwardness and constant self doubt. We carry ourselves differently and the cycle of self doubt gets fed. If you could wear one thing for the rest of your life (that’s not strictly lounge wear, that’s an obvi one!) what would it be? Does a color come to mind? Fabric? Print? Certain silhouette? Dive further into what it is about that thing that makes you FEEL secure & don’t let people or social pressures make you change your mind. Lean into that thing and start exploring it more! For me, I’d choose tshirts – I stopped telling myself they’re too boring and I started challenging myself to wear them more and style them differently simply because I felt good in them, now it’s a uniform! I feel confident, sexy, secure & totally myself when I wear one that I love! Take off your insecurity outfit and put on your confidence uniform! .

What makes your heart light on fire? What is it that you start talking about faster and louder with whole hearted excitement!? Girl, chase it down!! Hold on tight, let the fire inside of you ignite it in other women who need it too! You hold something more special, more wild & untamable than you know – your heart! Your ability to be YOU! No one else could ever fill the (sparkly, leather, red, sassy, comfy) shoes that were designed just for you! You’re fierce, don’t cave to comparison! You’re strong, tell self doubt to shut the heck up! You’re full of fire, fuel it with people in your tribe who love & support you! And don’t hold yourself back, you weren’t given a spirit of fear but of love, Power & a sound mind (2 Tim 1:7)! Be fierce, be strong, be full of fire!

I’ll love you forever. Tomorrow I’m 32 years old & 8 days later we cheers to ELEVEN years as Mr. & Mrs. ✨
When I reflect on my life so far I’m humbled that I’ve been so fortunate. Life is messy, it’s hard & full of exhausting battles BUT battles can be won, messes can be cleaned up and hard things take work but get easier with time, understanding and patience. I’m so loved, I’ve never doubted that for a moment in my life – that’s something I have never taken for granted. As I get older I really understand that love offers a safe place – for you, for the refugee, for the abused & broken. A place where we are reminded that we are worthy of being loved. We get broken in relationship but we can also heal in relationship where love is pure. I have learned that love DOES – love isn’t silent, it doesn’t see a hurting person & turn away. Love believes the best, it makes a way for broken people, it offers hope. Pure love has the power to rebuild our brokenness. The way Scott loves me is something he chose to do, he chose to be intuitive & aware of my heart and love me in a way that I’m grateful for every single day.

This cold weather (and my sore throat) have me day dreaming about San Diego & that warm sunshine I was lounging in only days ago! •
Church was SO life giving this morning! I had moments of serious appreciation for the way God strategically & creatively did things in the Bible and the fact that He hasn’t changed how He works today. He’s a strategic and intentional God that lays the steps before us, all He asks us to do it trust Him & keep following Him. •
When he asked Abraham to sacrifice Issac he knew that God was too faithful to make him follow it through, so he did it with complete peace and assurance that God had other plans in mind! Abraham didn’t doubt Gods goodness or leading. Of course That was true. He used that moment as a monumental one in the story of Jesus to show us the blessing and security in knowing & trusting that even when things look horrible and scary, He provides a way of escape when we trust His leading! That to reach the unseen doors we have to first find the ones that lead to it – He sees them all, he knows which steps and decisions need to be made to reach them and he provides what we need to walk through them. My spirit is full and refreshed!

I love the thought of being captivated with purpose! That idea offers so much space to dream and wander around the possibilities of your future. (It also leaves less room for comparison to sneak in.) I wonder if purpose can ever be completely fulfilled or if it just continues to evolve and grow as new doors open that lead to new seasons and opportunities within our purpose. •

Maybe that’s too deep for a Tuesday but it’s definitely swirling around in my heart today! •

Ephesians 2:10 – We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

I want to be authentic. (And good at math, but yikes… that is not the case!) I want to be true to who I am & approachable to all people! I hope to always offer my support and encouragement to people who need it and never make them feel invaluable or unimportant. Everyone has value, everyone is worthy of acceptance.

I don’t always do well the inauthenticity of social media. The fact that it’s a constant guessing game about what is real vs make believe is exhausting. I’m guilty of posting pictures I feel the best about but I don’t post them to gloat, or because I think I’m beautiful – in fact, I think my nose looks disproportionate to my other features in photos and showing my teeth is another one of those touchy subjects. I love style, I love clothes, I post my photos because I hope to inspire people! But also because it keeps me moving forward with my business since I am one of those people who fights with self doubt when momentum seems to fizzle.

I am however, confident. Sure that God made me with purpose! He gave me talent that will be used and needed and bring life to lots of people! I love what I do, I’m willing to fight for it and keep going through the hard days and moments of self doubt because someone needs me to show up & be the best possible version of myself! For me, it isn’t about just me. It’s about the people who need me to show up and be a stylist, a friend, an open ear, someone who won’t judge them or shame them. •
I’m in this thing to do what I love, to be successful at it and watch it produce fruit that lasts in people’s lives. Jesus gave me the vision for LivStyled, He keeps me grounded and full of hope for my future, He opens doors that I am in awe of and He is faithful!

So, what is it?! What’s the tiny, inner spark of possibility living inside of you? It’s crazy that it’s such a normal thing for people to think they don’t have what it takes to see their sparks, their dreams, fanned into achievements. I was one of those people until I really understood that there are others who need me and what I have to offer, my dreams aren’t limited only to my success. There have been people along the way that I have desperately needed to help me with my spark too! I need the people who are great at organization, who’s talents are marketing, social media and web developing; people whose dreams look so different from mine but were such an important part of fanning my possibility into achievement. And each of those people didn’t make great achievements on their own either, so remember that you’re not alone! There is a network of people that can help you bring those dreams, those sparks of possibility to life! It’s so much easier to believe in yourself when you have so many others who believe in you, want to help you and who need what you have offer! ? @kelseyhettinga

This tiny gent is one of the reasons I do what I do. He is wild and sincere and when he wants something he is relentless and passionate! Maybe because he’s 2 & driven by emotion or maybe because they’re the gifts Jesus created him with! I see a boy that will grow into a passionate, driven, motivated and spirited man! I hope to nurture & guide his liveliness instead of ever making him feel that his spirit needs to calm down. As a mama you get stretched in patients and self control, sometimes I have movements of total defeat and feelings of exhaustion in all avenues possible. But I also have countless chances to be stretched in creativity, motivation, dedication and love. It’s through my experience as a mom that I’ve built endurance, confidence, motivation, follow through & problem solving and it’s through their eyes and words that I feel like I am capable of achieving anything I put my heart into. They help me to see my moments of failure and self doubt as opportunities to improve & grow because that’s how I taught them to see themselves! It’s interesting when those life lessons are forgotten by us when it pertains to us! I’m just having one of those weeks where I’m feeling things pretty deep I guess, letting the Lord show me His relevance and presence in my life. Of course my kids are always one of the ways He gets to my heart! Ps. His CURLS!!!

Fear is one of those things that presents insane limitations. In my life I’ve gone through seasons of fear that have left me feeling isolated, incapable & even undeserving. Let’s be real, who can actually say they haven’t?! Fear has so many names and every one of them holds the same dose of insecurity and lies. If we stop and live in those seasons of fear & isolation then we embrace that as our identity. We are capable of choosing a life with limits or a life of opportunity, a life that expresses strength and courage to you and to people you don’t even know are watching you. I choose to process the fears, walk through them with an expectation to overcome them and see my life flourish without limits! I am capable. I am deserving. I’m not alone and neither are you! We are capable of amazing things! “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.” Isaiah 43:2.
