Oversized button up + Bermuda shorts + strappy heels, the outfit all of you need to take for a spin this summer! If you don’t like the length of Bermuda shorts for your legs (after all, every leg ever made is perfectly unique!) don’t be afraid to cut them to your liking – fold them under while wearing them, mark them with chalk & chop those bad boys up! For the oversized top try a full tuck, half tuck as pictured, all out or get a little sassier and wear it open with a fitted drop top underneath. .

I’m gunna just say it, yeah, I am – just going to lay it out… I am not a very good Instagrammer, in fact I’ve really despised this platform off and on…
I’m a business owner, a great mom, a new (and addicted) reader of novels (please tell me you’ve read The Woman in The Window!), professional iced coffee drinker, newbie to hiking and willing to give those things my all – but Instagram… Wow, I have given it the bare min of my energy. But that’s going to change, not just for my own sake! Because I have things in my heart and in my profession that I want to share with you and I’m done letting uncertainty of this platform hinder me. I’m excited about sharing styling stuff with you! Excited to help you learn what creates someone’s personal style and the work that goes into it! I’m also really excited to put my heart into it, because for me those two things go hand in hand… my work and my heart. Cheers to my first work meeting today since our move to SD! Cheers to fresh starts and personal growth, cheers to showing up for other people and offering what we have to the world to make a healthy difference! And CHEERS to chasing after dreams and kicking fear in the buttcheek.

I feel like every post is the first post because I post so infrequently on IG. Are you starting to think the word ‘post’ sounds funny because of overuse? Anyone? Just me? K.
So, let me get down and dirty real quick, there are things you should about me before we take this to second base… I really don’t have a passion for fashion, I love style. I don’t always care about what’s happening on the runways because I care more about what’s happening in your closet and WHY it’s happening. More importantly, how I can help! I love the psychology of style, why we are drawn to certain colors and styles and what triggers our shopping patterns. Enough about that; I love a good belly laugh, the uglier the better! I’ve started probably 4 books over the last year and never, like ever, finish them – is that because I’m not an adult yet? I freaking love to dance, the truth is if you saw how I got down you might feel confusion & ask yourself, is this totally awesome or is she insane? It’s over the top and the best medicine! I’m an enneagram 4 which makes me want to swim upstream while also being your most loyal friend & a little moody mama at times. Family is top of my list, I’d walk away from life’s greatest opportunities to be a better mom & wife. The beauty of that is that I married a man who would encourage just the opposite. I’m a fresh plant lover and have actual anxiety when I see leaves start to brown. I love great skin care but often forget to wash my face before bed, I know, I know. I’m a quality time person and when I’m alone too much I sink into a bit of a self worth funk, it’s one of my daily battles. When I was in 8th grade our childhood home burned down, (it was even more traumatic than it sounds – I’ll share the story soon) the first thing I got out was my friends backpack and the last thing? My bird. I always hated that bird – chill out, it lived! And for way too long after that fire. ? Here’s what I’m working on: caring less about what others think & really embracing who I am, all quirks included! Walking outside of my comfort zone to pursue personal grow, finishing those freaking books I’ve started & drinking more water! Your turn!

Big changes around here! We have officially arrived in San Diego! These plant babies made the road trip with me & I’ll admit I almost lost a few of them to heat in Arizona… I may or may not have made a detour to a spa and left them to fend for themselves in 104 degrees. Plant mom fail. Rest assured, they’ve perked back up and are busy soaking in some organic fertilizer soil oils I paid way too much for. Plant mom win! Also, this dress was a glorious score at Anthro during their tag sale! $25!! Yes of course I did a happy dance when it fit just perfectly! There’s so much updating to do but for now you should know the most important things – we are well, only minimal tears so far & Starbucks is 1.5 blocks from our new home. Jesus has our back. .

What in the?! It seems SO surreal that in just over 3 weeks we will be living on the west coast again. I haven’t had the time to dream about what it might look like for us living in Ca this time around. I don’t just feel like a totally different person since our move to the Midwest, I AM a different person. I’ve had such awe-inducing opportunities here that have left me reeling in gratitude & personal growth. Now more than ever I’ve come to really grasp that time is fleeting and that what I do with my time, my life, is entirely up to me. Every interaction, every step, every opportunity is a choice I have the privilege to explore and grow through! I used to be afraid of the big dreams. The ones that made me ask myself, “who the eff do you think you are Liv!? Why do you think you have what it takes? There’s nothing extraordinary about you.” I know I’m not alone here, guys – what debilitating things have you believed about yourself? Cuz dang, they’re such lies. What once made me feel inferior now lights a fire in my soul, not because I’ve mastered self confidence or I’ve achieved something extraordinary and I have the world at my fingertips… because I understand my design. That I was wired with compassion & tenderness, with gifts not for my own gain but to impact those around me. I was created with a purpose to change the world around me simply by being me! By offering my abilities to help people who need them, fear wouldn’t only hold me but it would steal from those I was created to impact for good. I am very excited about what’s next for this Midwest girl & curious how the Lord will use me. .

My life has been consumed with painting, scrubbing grout, cleaning door jams, pulling weeds, solo parenting & often feeling like I’m barely keeping my head above water long. This is a gentle reminder to myself that although life is (complete chaos) slightly out of the norm right now, I am the same me. The same hard working, bust-A girl boss, energetic & diligent mom, fun loving wife & adventurous friend. Tough seasons can take a toll while walking through them but we often don’t realize what we are actually learning with each step along the way. We grow, we accept challenges & fight to over come them, we get sharpened & refined if we choose to keep on going believing that we are worth it & that we are more than conquerors. I suppose this isn’t just a reminder to me, but to you too! Your tough seasons don’t define you, they build you. Keep on truckin’ girl, silence the chaos and take a big, deep breath and remember who you are! You’re a conqueror! .

THIS IS A BIG DEAL!! I shared in my stories that this little (very busy, very fruitful, very exciting, very exhausting) business of mine is growing!! I have official added a second stylist to help run things here in GR because, wait for it… I’ll be moving with my family back to San Diego in June! Crazy!! I’ll be launching in a second city and GUYS IT’S BANANAS!! The last few months have been so insane around here, my husband took a great job in Ca & we are prepping for the move in June when my babes are out of school. I’ve had countless moments of emotions changing on a whim, bittersweet realizations, excitement over a growing dream & my fair share of processing. I’m unbelievably full of gratitude for this life, the people I share it with & the things God has trusted me with. Seasons changing is always uncomfortable but that’s where growth comes – when we choose diligence, Faith, trust His leading & choose to reside in His peace even if fear is tapping at the door because that peace, it silences fear. He can do SO much more beyond what we can think, hope or imagine and I am all in for that!

You are enough. You are worth investing in. Your dreams are worth taking the risk for. The things that bring you life are important! As a mom I’ve carried this thought that I’ll be frowned upon for wearing too many hats… that raising my kids and building a career shouldn’t go hand in hand. For so long I fought fear that my kids would feel put on the shelf if I sacrificed even a moment of my time with them to invest in a career. Or that they would turn out to be wretched little humans if I didn’t give up everything and give them ALL of me.
I was wrong. The people who made me feel shame for wanting more than being a stay-at-Home-mom were wrong. I’ve learned that a child who knows they’re loved & feels secure, is there cheering mama on to become a success in her endeavors! Mamas success is theirs to celebrate too!
When Delaney says I’m a great stylist, I feel humbled. When I get to buy the kids something fun with my earned money, I feel proud. When I take a step back and I realize that the dreams in my heart were put there by a God who calls me worthy, deserving & capable, I understand that He also equipped me to walk through motherhood & my career with grace and balance. Moms are bosses.

January. The month of fresh starts, refreshed vision & renewed motivation! This month I officially started training my first ever assistant stylist! That felt like a big step in the right direction, a big step also into unknown territory that totally freaks me out. But hey, if you don’t take the scary steps forward then the growth seizes to exist and that’s something I refuse to let happen. I had this realization recently, if my mentality moving forward is full of ‘somedays’ then I’m not really running after my dreams, I’m crawling toward them. That’s when I decided that now is the time to start training my first ever newbie because the day WILL come (and it’s quickly approaching!) that I need her. Expecting that growth, investing in it now and keeping vision for what’s beyond it means that I’m running full speed ahead! My heart and hands are open to the Lord to do His thing through my business and He will continue to open the doors if I continue to put my expectation in Him. I am a grateful and busy mom boss and it’s the greatest feeling in the world!

I swore I’d never post a bathroom pic but ya know what, I’m not too good for a bathroom pic! That & 50% of my time is spent at home with kids so photo ops for a killer outfit just don’t happen often. I wonder what your behind-the-scenes looks like and if it resembles mine at all… A (mostly) happy, (sometimes lonely) mingling of motherhood & boss. I’m reminded today that although dates with my husband are far too infrequent, my kids consume my energy & my business is still a one woman show – I am living & breathing the unraveling of a dream… I get to date the man of my dreams forever, I have 3 beautiful, kind kids to pour my energy into & my business continues to grow & flourish! I am grateful for this season, I embrace it & I’ll choose to be present and invested in my life through every season!
Ps. Thanks to @thesovengard for having the cutest bathroom for this rare bathroom pic sighting!
