Ya want real life? There she is! A photo of me working the week before Christmas, blurry from tiny greasy hands on my phone. My 4 year old spontaneously took this picture 🙂 So many jobs are over glamorized and feel untouchable or elite. My job can sometimes fall into that category – like it’s not attainable to have a personal stylist. Do you get your nails done so you feel pampered? Because they last a lot longer and look beautiful? Probably! Even though you could buy cheap polish & paint them yourself just to have them chip that night… there are reasons services like mine exists, to offer quality and expertise where you need it. You don’t have to have it but it could change your life – as I hear from 100% of my clients! WHY I do this job is because every woman deals with insecurity & busyness, clothes should not add to the frustration or chaos. They should empower you & give you confidence! Yes I love fashion! I love trends & style! But I love to help lift burdens that get too heavy for women to carry, style is something we can control when other areas of our lives feel disheveled. I do what I do not because it’s glamorous (although I love me some designer shopping & sparkly everything!), I do it because for so many women it’s a problem that I have the solution to & I’m passionate about it. ❤️

Purging & rebuilding feels so dang gooooooooood!!! Get rid of the stuff that you constantly second guess or better yet, get a second set of eyes to help you see things differently! Maybe items will go but just maybe you’re sitting on treasures just waiting to be styled and worn!
Is it faded? Misshapen after the laundry? Worn? Pitted out? Does it fit a little weird? Does it wash you out? Does it make you feel boring or insecure?? Get rid of it!! There is nothing that can’t be replaced for something you’ll love & feel confident in!

•”In life we can dread the sacrifice or we can anticipate the reward.”• Ya know when you hear something that seems to bust through your chest and grab ahold of your heart? Those little truths are the stepping stones through seasons of my life. They’re the pefect bite sized but profound truths that shift my perspective just enough to keep me moving forward & my heart in check. That quote from @christybwright got me!! How many times are we so focused on the sacrifices we have to make that the reward is hardly visible? Dang girl, if there’s anything I’ve learned through starting a business it is that the reward MUST stay front and center, when it gets cloudy there’s suddenly all this space for doubt and fear to completely hinder momentum. Of course there are areas where certain sacrifices must be balanced with wisdom – for me, my kids top the charts. Sacrificing the year I have left before West starts school is front and center, I won’t sacrifice that time with him… but I WILL balance it because both he & my growing business hold reward! I can’t get that year with him back but it also doesn’t become my excuse not to DO what is in my heart to do. When I choose to work away from home it doesn’t mean that I’m a bad mom or that I’m sacrificing all my mama responsibilities; it mean that I’m equally valuing myself as a woman and business owner and making money to help support my family is good both for them and for me! And can I just say mamas, I’ve heard the ‘shoulds’ about being a full time stay at home mom… it’s hard to ignore them and stay confident that what you’re doing is right for you & your family. For those of you called to the full time at home role, BLESS YOU! Flourish there, your sacrifice will be honored! And for those of you like me, don’t let anyone squelch your fire for being mama and boss, you are graced to do it! Find your balance, weigh your sacrifices, be mama when your babes need you & boss when there’s peace in your home! I believe in you, sincerely. I’ve been completely MIA, I know. I have been in my own little world of asking questions, the hard kind. The ones that require major soul searching & arms stretched wide with willingness. It’s a good thing that we can hope in Him & His timing even when He feels quiet! Or in my case it’s feeling hopeful that the stirring I’m feeling is something getting ready to blossom in my life & I want to be in the right position – emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually – so that I can be most prepared for what He has in store.
It can be scary to ask the hard questions because part of asking them is admitting we don’t have all of the answers – annnnd booooy do I like to have it all figured out! But for now I’m meditating on the present things in my life! The children I’m watching grow by the minute, the business I’m investing my heart into, the marriage that’s full of belonging – that’s enough for me. But I love the stirring and draw for more, the things He has in store for our family and my life that I have yet to see!

What happens in the quiet moments in your life? When you press pause on social media, when the tv goes dark and the only sound is your breathe, the only movement is your body in your cozy bed. I find myself in my most vulnerable form in those moments. When I reflect on my life – what I’ve suffered and accomplished, the areas in me I see growth and the areas I ache for freedom. When I let my heart wander through the opportunities I’ve been given to leave a simple reminder of Jesus’ love for someone who needed it & if I’ve been faithful in my calling to be His hands & His feet in this world. I know the quiet moments can be hard for so many people, anxieties sneak up so easy in the dark & quiet – A.W. Tozer said, ‘we need never to shout across the open spaces to an absent God. He is nearer than our own soul, closer than our most secret thought.’ Even further, God doesn’t run when we have a dark thought, struggle or emotion…He simply remains. I crave the quiet, maybe because I’m a mother of 3 and quiet is so rare around here but maybe because instead of fearing the quiet, I’ve learned to embrace the chance to sit & be present with a God who challenges me to grow beyond the limits I’ve set for myself and embrace who He created me to be. (((Be still & know that I am God. Psalm 46:10.)))

You should know that when I’m shooting, I always have music playing (usually in back pocket) and there is always impromptu dancing and singing that happens! It’s the only reason I’m not terribly uncomfortable during these photoshoots. Dancing is like therapy for me, I get crazy ya’ll. Like, I don’t hold back for nobody!! This is just a moment of the passion captured by the lovely @happyphotoco who encouraged me to move to the beat of my own drum during our shoot! ?ps. This tiny gent is one of the reasons I do what I do. He is wild and sincere and when he wants something he is relentless and passionate! Maybe because he’s 2 & driven by emotion or maybe because they’re the gifts Jesus created him with! I see a boy that will grow into a passionate, driven, motivated and spirited man! I hope to nurture & guide his liveliness instead of ever making him feel that his spirit needs to calm down. As a mama you get stretched in patients and self control, sometimes I have movements of total defeat and feelings of exhaustion in all avenues possible. But I also have countless chances to be stretched in creativity, motivation, dedication and love. It’s through my experience as a mom that I’ve built endurance, confidence, motivation, follow through & problem solving and it’s through their eyes and words that I feel like I am capable of achieving anything I put my heart into. They help me to see my moments of failure and self doubt as opportunities to improve & grow because that’s how I taught them to see themselves! It’s interesting when those life lessons are forgotten by us when it pertains to us! I’m just having one of those weeks where I’m feeling things pretty deep I guess, letting the Lord show me His relevance and presence in my life. Of course my kids are always one of the ways He gets to my heart! Ps. His CURLS!!!
