Yesterday was a much needed day of adventure and all things lovely! The @clothandcabin Spring lineup is SO good, you guys! I can’t wait for it to go live so you can buy all the pretty things for yourselves! And let’s just throw down a solid shout out to @eandlsalongr because Erin & @samklugartistry are some incredible humans! They were so down to earth, which is way the heck up there on my list of hopes when meeting new people. I felt beautiful, valued and really thankful to have met 2 more female powerhouses in the Grand Rapids community. The photo shoot with Cloth&Cabin was hilarious, inspiring, laid back and overflowing with mimosas – seriously my glass was never left half empty. Can’t wait to see the magic from so many killer creatives working together & so grateful I got to be a part of it!

The amount of snow that has fallen in the last 12 hours in GR is ummm, no bueno. Beautiful? Absolutely! Cozy? I mean it’s like magic when you’re inside looking out! But I think half of this would have been just as lovely, sky… Thanks a lot. I think it’s officially time to say it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas with all of this sparkling, white ‘tow’ – as my 3 year old would say. These guys keep me on my toes! Not only in case I need to tap into my inner Wonder Woman to catch them mid fall or activate my laser vision to remind them I can most definitely see everything, at all times… but also with my wardrobe! (Anticlimactic?! It’ll always come back to the wardrobe with me, I mean c’mon! I’m a stylist!) I want to be able to wear the cute dresses and heels and white too!! I think a lot of moms think those options are entirely unavailable with little, messy monsters running in circles in around them. But I’ve got a trick or 2 that say otherwise! Moms, I know you can feel like your identity gets lost in the shuffle of motherhood! One of the things that’s kept me feeling like ME, Olivia, with my own identity and desires is being able to feel good about myself. I never thought I’d be one for red pants, but I’ve learned that if I go into a store specifically to try things on that feel outside of my comfort zone, I often feel pleasantly surprised! That’s also something I encourage each of my clients to trust me with – does it make you feel a little afraid and excited on the hanger?! Good. Just imagine when you get it on! Right… you might throw up… but you might immediately start dancing! So, what about you?! Do you have an adventurous side that might surprise people?! Surprise yourself?! A little heart.

So, this is what a first blog post looks like! Well, what do ya know!? What I’m still trying to figure out is why I’ve dragged my feet about taking this plunge into the blogging world. I suppose part of me didn’t want to get lost in the endless sea of blogger-beauties out there and I’ve always had to fight the urge not to be the fish swimming up stream, ya get me? So my pride aside, here I am. I had the realization recently that I’m cool with blogging as long as it inspires, bleeds authenticity and offers a place for you feel like you belong. A place you can turn the switch off in your busy day, if only for a moment.

All of that aside (for now) I’m here because of a life long dream to be a fashion stylist! Some one who can support the every day woman through her personal style journey. I’ve quickly learned through my work that the journey encompasses seasons of life that hold significance for each woman. Some that have had new babes, some that have lost weight and feel like they’re dressing an entirely different person, some that simply feel lost when it comes to their personal style and wonder if they’ve even got one at all! Every single woman is different; each one beautiful with a story worth sharing.

Coco said it best,

I hope to offer you a way to connect to the fashion world but also to my world! I wear so many hats like so many of you! My days are full of running kids around, fashion research, exhaustion, personal styling and shopping, wife-ing, grocery shopping, coffee, emotional days and days to celebrate! I hope this can be one of the places you come and feel understood. Where whatever hat you’ve got on for the day is being worn by other women too, even if it’s styled a little differently.

Today I’m wearing my mom hat, stylist hat and I just picked up this blogger hat that I’m still getting a feel for! You’ll have to let me know what you think sometime. So, I suppose that’s it then. I’m a stylist and I’m a blogger. Maybe. We’ll see.

Where you are at in your life right now is relevant, it’s a part of your story! Today is an important day. It’s another day to notice the little things and appreciate this season in your life! It might not be full of things that make you exceedingly happy or maybe it is! Either way there’s something valuable in your today that’s worth being noticed. It’s another day to spend with your closest friends, enjoy your favorite coffee or wear something that makes you feel confident! Another day to dream, to achieve and to invest in lives around you. I see my wild and crazy kids today, laughing and playing. I see the wet roads hinting at spring, I’m heading to work in a place that makes me feel inspired and happy! I’m thankful for another day to be present in my life and aware of the things that make today so lovely! .

With this freezing rain or whatever terrible thing is happening outside right now, I am feeling extra grateful for my cozy home and freshly baked muffins (Krusteez & I are killing it in the kitchen this morning!). Even more so since my biggest kid is home sickie today. Poor bud.
Gray + burgundy is a dream combo! @sanctuaryclothing Makes the best leggings for easily elevating an outfit! They’re thicker than basic leggings and have mock pockets on the back. They’re probably the best brand of leggings I’ve ever owned! Go getcha self some!
And the ruffle sweater, you guys! This trend is probably one of my favorites right now, and you can do ruffles without feeling like you’re going to fly sway too! I mean I love ’em. I would wear them so big I could fly away but my kids would laugh at me… even though I’m suuuurrre they’ll think I’m the coolest mom alive every single day of their lives.
