Cozy up, I have a story. I had a moment recently where I was riddled with thoughts & shoulds about my life. I realized I was feeling this deep sense of disconnect between my heart and my head. The shoulds in my mind were aggressive while my heart was longing for something entirely different that I just couldn’t put my finger on. Until one evening, while trying to quiet my mind I felt a stirring in my spirit that said, “Olivia, you don’t have to be extraordinary to be loved.” And it was in that moment that I realized I was allowing the perception of my success to outmeasure my worth. This is where I chose to press pause. When our priorities are out of balance and we aren’t pressing into what it’s in our hearts, every fascist of our lives will feel out of balance. It will never be worth sacrificing your peace to try and be accepted because of your status or accomplishments. It’s who we are, how we love & how we live that leaves a splash in the world. @mejuri #mejuri #mejuripartner .

Getting older is the trippiest thing, I’m layering on thicker night creams and spf these days but I’m also becoming someone I’m more and more proud of. I care less about what other people think of me and more about what I think of myself. My sister @thecozinessconsultant and I often talk about ‘doing the work’ in this life which essentially means choosing to approach the hard things from childhood to adult by identifying behaviors, themes, dissecting relationships, walking through forgiveness, understanding your values, setting boundaries & always ALWAYS choosing to see when you’re wrong and how you can grow from each interaction in your life. It’s pretty wild how many heart things get exposed and how your perception changes about so many, many things when you’re willing to do the work! There’s a part of you that dreads getting older and then there’s this other part that feels more sure of who you are and more aware of the ripple you want to leave behind each season you walk through. Cheers to #33 and all of the things ahead of me! Ps. Since I’m new on LikeToKnow.it…
These tees are so worth the investment, they’re soft & timeless. There are so many great ways to style them! Im wearing a medium for a little extra room, they’re supposed to be a little baggy – just the way I love em! One of the most important relationships we have is with ourselves. If we don’t strive to become the healthiest version of who we are then we will live this life believing we will never measure up. And there’s so much more for us than that!
Give yourself the permission to believe that what’s in your heart is important despite its relevancy. That you don’t need to ‘look the part’ because that’s what others expect of you. What’s in your heart is valuable & worthy wether it’s about Jesus, anxiety, work, happiness, politics, family, your kids or food, it all matters because every one of those things play a vital role in making up the whole person of YOU.
It’s good to remind yourself that you don’t have to be extraordinary to be loved. You just have to be you & understand that you are enough.

I think you’re more than your appearance. Actually I know, I know that you’re worth more than the clothes you wear. There’s so much more to you. Our stories, our battles & victories all play a part in how we represent and perceive ourselves. They’re often what determines what we believe about what we are capable of, our measure of worth & belonging. If we chose to find our identity in the victories of our story & less in the struggle then I believe we would be completely different people! The tough grade school year’s leave their mark of insecurity, the messy family memories leave roots of inadequacy, the painful relationships dig into our worth and cause us to carry yet another weight. Financial instability says we will never be able to attain our goals let alone dress like we wish we really could. But what about the times you faced your fear, you believed you could & you did, when you found freedom from your struggle & fought for it! THIS is why I do what I do, because the painful parts of your story don’t have to determine the way you dress or carry yourself. Clothing is a trigger! If we wear clothes that we don’t love it make us feel insecure & uncomfortable, it’s a constant reminder of all the emotional weight we carry. There is a way to dress to unlock confidence & give the world a taste of your personality, what makes you SO wonderfully you! I believe whole hearted that how we dress is one element of discovering who we are & walking it out! .

Yeah, I get stuck in (effing, cuz these kinds of ruts deserve a swear word) clothing ruts too. Sometimes I try something new, look at myself in the mirror & OLIVIA!! All the bad thoughts come flooding in like a freight train. Walking out of the house feeling uninspired & self conscious sets a real positive tone for the day, doesn’t it? No thanks! But this is what I’ve come to understand about clothes, they’re just like every other relationship we have. We search for security, comfort, safety, inspiration & identity in them. They help to shape us into who we want to become & what we believe about ourselves. I want my clothing to offer security in areas I might not always feel good about. And all relationships need to be kept in check right?! I mean if home girl is stirring up some trouble you walk away! You (ideally, I know that’s not always easy) set boundaries to protect your heart. Typically we are drawn to people who make us feel inspired, understood, free & alive – people we feel proud to be seen with! Insert your wardrobe here… if you start your every day off feeling depleted, uninspired & self conscious then your relationship needs to change for your own well being. People and clothing should not becoming a hinderance to your potential or your overall health & beliefs about yourself. I am not a stylist just for the glamor (but let’s be real I def drool over the fancy things), I am a stylist because I believe in your potential and that your clothing is a major way of unlocking it! Set a boundary with your clothing like you would with someone who’s stealing your joy, get rid of them. They’re not worth keeping close if all they do is hurt you. ? @kaleighdsimmonsphoto

I love mail day!!! Client’s goodies rolling’ in makes my heart skip a beat! ?
I love working one on one with clients to build a strategic wardrobe, one that accommodates every facet of their lives! Your wardrobe should reflect your values & lifestyle, it should motivate you, offer you confidence and security and most of all it should feel exciting for you to get dressed every single day whether it’s a casual day, a work day, a girls night out, a special event or a trip to the gym!
As a stylist it’s not my goal to fill your closet with designer pieces or to break the bank – not even close! I work with a close budget if that’s what gives you peace through the process! I am a firm believer if something steals your peace, the price is too high – whether that’s financial or circumstantial.

What makes your heart light on fire? What is it that you start talking about faster and louder with whole hearted excitement!? Girl, chase it down!! Hold on tight, let the fire inside of you ignite it in other women who need it too! You hold something more special, more wild & untamable than you know – your heart! Your ability to be YOU! No one else could ever fill the (sparkly, leather, red, sassy, comfy) shoes that were designed just for you! You’re fierce, don’t cave to comparison! You’re strong, tell self doubt to shut the heck up! You’re full of fire, fuel it with people in your tribe who love & support you! And don’t hold yourself back, you weren’t given a spirit of fear but of love, Power & a sound mind (2 Tim 1:7)! Be fierce, be strong, be full of fire!

What I wish you could see in this photo is the moment we realized we could feed alpacas that lived directly behind this studio. As in, open a door in the back of the studio and walk right into their feeding area!
They were stinky, adorable, enthralling & I was obsessed with the idea that such a beautiful studio had this unexpected surprise! There was something so honest about it; the collision of this beautiful studio & these wild animals and the fact that they shared a single door. (I’m working on embracing the way my mind works when it comes to this stuff but I do appreciate that Jesus created me with tenderness & insight toward seemingly ordinary things.) We paint a calculated representation of who we are and allow the world to see it but we hesitate to crack the door where, on the other side you’d find the messes of our lives. Reality is that we all have this door, the one hanging in balance of our beauty & our mess. We tell ourselves people will love us less if they knew about the mess on the other side when the truth is it bridges gaps, offers freedom & gives others the opportunity to feed our hearts & feel understood in return. We are all messy & we have all been broken, it’s a part of our story! Just like one success doesn’t cap our ability to achieve, one painful circumstance doesn’t blemish us. John 1:5 says, “Light shines in the darkness and the darkness can not ever come it.” If we crack open the door from our perfect facade into our passing pains then they can’t stay in the darkness & chip away at us. So today I’m aware of my door and the insecurities on the other side & I’m allowing a crack so the light can get in – I am not inadequate, I am enough! I am worthy! I am loved! I am strong! I am not alone! YOU are enough, you are worthy, you are loved, you are strong and sister, you are not alone.

Don’t be predictable with your style, add splashes of unexpected color and print, a hair scarf or pair of earrings a little outside of your comfort zone. Even if no one else notices, do it for you! (Chances are they will notice and they’ll feel inspired by your guts to give it a go!) Add something that you love but have been too nervous to try – most of the time you’ll feel more excited and confident the longer you wear it. Style isn’t about a certain shirt or accessory, it’s a representation of who you are! What words would you choose to describe your style? How about the words you would use to describe your personality? There is rarely just one word for either because we aren’t defined by one element, we are intricate and wonderfully complex! Just as our wardrobes should be! ? @kaleighdsimmonsphoto
